As with last year, instead of sending Christmas cards and client gifts, we’ll be making a sizeable donation to charity. In fact, as part of our ongoing efforts to play our part as a responsible business and aligned with our promise to be kind, we’ve decided that every employee of Yasper in perpetuity will be asked to choose a charity at Christmas that means something to them.
Here’s what worthy causes we’re donating to in 2024...
Children’s Heart Surgery Fund
“Earlier this year, my wife Katie and I, were lucky enough to welcome little Leo into our family. Spending an unexpected eight nights in Leeds General Infirmary wasn’t part of the plan, but it did open our eyes to the worry that parents must face when things don’t go as hoped with the arrival of a baby. Thankfully, all turned out to be fine with Leo, but being in a children’s hospital really brings home the issues newborns can face.
“We asked our consultant if there were any charities supporting newborns and parents that she had come across and could recommend, and were pointed in the direction of an amazing Leeds-based organisation called the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. Not only do they fund life-saving equipment for children born with congenital heart issues, but they also provide support and care, including accommodation, for their families at what can be an extremely stressful time.”
- Julian Pearce, founder
The Huntington’s Disease Association
“For my chosen charity for 2024, I will be donating to the Huntington’s Disease Association. The HDA does incredible work supporting those affected by this progressive neurological condition, offering vital services and funding important research.
“Earlier this year, one of my closest friends was sadly diagnosed with the condition, and the HDA is an incredible support network that deserves recognition for the educational tools and care services it provides to those affected. When I was first asked where I’d like to make a donation to, the HDA was my immediate choice in support of my wonderful friend. A huge thanks to Yasper for offering this incentive and supporting a cause that I have a connection to.”

In addition to putting in place a formal policy for how we support charitable giving, we’ve also looked at volunteering. Initially, this means employees will be gifted three days of paid time per year, which can be used to volunteer for a cause of their choice. Our founder Jules currently holds trustee positions with two amazing charities, but in addition to providing governance support, this volunteering time can just as equally be applied to hands-on delivery of work, in whatever area our team members see fit.
We can only implement these policies with the blessing of our amazing clients, so we’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to them, as well as colleagues, partners, suppliers and friends of Yasper for your continued trust and support this year. We wish you a wonderful festive season ahead and we look forward to catching up with you in 2025.
